Name: Henri Valois

Traits and Political Views:
-loyal monarchist, faithful solarist
-reactionary, believes nobles are fundementally more enlightened and more deserving of rulership, peasants are destined to be ruled. burghers are upstarts destined for peasanthood.
-arrogant, coping about being in carpesia "only temporarily"

Background:

Born as the fifth child of a third-rate Areolois noble family, Henri didn't have many prospects compared to his siblings growing up. As the second son his chance of inheriting the family's estate was negligible. Because of this he rarely took his duties seriously, much to the ire of his parents. He much preferred to booze and chase women all day rather than act like the perfect child for a family he would never inherit. Eventually his parents had had enough, and they issued an ultimatum. Either he would do something with his life or he would be cut off entirely.

As per his parent's orders he served in the Areolan Royal Navy for a few years, hunting pirates off the coast of Alrizia. During his service he took a great interest in architecture, especially that of Solist churches. During the long history of Areolian protectorship over Alrizia the faith had blossomed there, creating grand cathedrals in Alriziers that in his opinion even surpassed those in his homeland.

After his service his parents agreed to send him to university in Brest, where he followed his newfound inspiration and studied architecture. He excelled in his studies, having finally discovered something that truly interested him. Yet after graduating, another issue became apparent.

All the most prestigious positions went to those from more notable families, even if they were technically less skilled. For years after university he was struggling to find decent work, relegated to designing churches in small countryside parishes, occasionally a modest estate for a poor noble or a rich burgher.

It was then, after years of squandering his talents, that he received a ray of hope. One of his university friends, the child of a noble from the small nation of Carpesia, had ascended to their father's throne and was beginning a plan to modernise the aging fief. This included an expansion of the estate and revamping many of the villages and farms on the land. He set out to Carpesia immediately on the first available ship, coming to reside in the city of Tumul.
