His family was fairly devout, but Lucifer struggled to find meaning in the religion and became increasingly interested in solarism, which was much more popular in Tarbor. His family reluctantly worked for the Marquis de la Reauce and had trained him to work as a lumberjack so that he might lessen their workload. When he was 22 years old, a member of the solar order saw him observing the solarist temple in Tumul from afar. The Solarist encouraged him to enter and pray with the solarists congregated there. There he met a number of Solarists and found a community he had never found from Cajras, he explained his family's struggle, and some offered to aid should they be unable to make rent. 

Over the following days, he would go to the temple every chance he could, where he would become increasingly close to Martin, the member of the solar order that had urged him to pray. Lucifer's curiosity with Solarism only grew, and one fateful day, he revealed to his parents that he wished to convert and that he wished they would do the same. His parents were aggravated by this suggestion they refused to renounce their faith and cast him out of their house.

Lucifer spent the following days in the Tumul Solarist temple seeking guidance, when Martin found him. Once Lucifer explained what had happened, Martin offered him a place in the solar order, where he would be taught to read and write and be provided shelter in exchange for working for the order and solarism as a whole. Lucifer accepted and he also chose a new name: His family had named him Idris Hitab at birth after the prophet of Cajra, but he chose to reject this name in Favor of "Lucifer", the "light-bearer" to illustrate his newfound community in Solarism.
