Background:
Once a renowned Carpesian merchant and trader, Wilfrith Barnette grew up in the port city of Vidinia during the twilight of Hans von Chatsburg's reign. Born into a middle-class Čajra family whose fortunes were decimated during the Solarist economic suppression, Wilfrith learned the art of trade in hard times.

Now an older man with a heavy ledger full of regrets, Wilfrith has stepped back from high-stakes mercantilism. He seeks to wind down his life in peace, traveling the islands not to buy or sell, but to connect, reminisce, and pass on wisdom.

He gave up all wealth in pursuit of connection. What he wants now—peace, belonging, forgiveness, authentic connection—aren't for sale. That might be the cruelest twist for a man who spent decades solving problems with coin and cunning.

He's trying to feel his way through life now, not buy his way. And that transition makes him rich in a completely different, more meaningful, way.
