Some goals:

Expand the influence of Carcosa AB. into Faru and ensure the company generates a profit from the venture.

Background:

Born in Crow, the capital city of the Kingdom of Coldstream, Markus was raised in a bourgeois merchant family. From his youth he was raised to love his country and his king as well as to take up the mantle of the family trading business. The Carcosa Trading Company was a somewhat average sized shipping business operating out of the capital. The profits from the business allowed Markus to live comfortably for his youth up until the Syndicalist takeover of the Coldstream government and the exile of the King when he was 17 years old. Having been part of a middle class family and a loyalist to the Crown, Markus hated the new government and joined the Royalist Resistance to return the king to his throne. For 2 years Markus fought as a foot soldier for the Resistance. 2 years after their takeover the Syndicalist government collapsed in on itself due to infighting in the party and made way for the Resistance to push for a coup of the government and the return of the King. With the Kingdom restored and Syndicalism banned in Coldstream Markus returned to civilian life and took up classes at an economics college in Crow while being apprenticed to take over his fathers recently reestablished business. At 25 his father passed forcing Markus to leave college and take up full ownership of the company. Seeing the rapid industrialization of Coldstream around him and using what he learned while in college Markus began to use the company's garnered capital to convert the business from trade to manufacturing. Reoutfitting Carcosa Trading Company into Carcosa AB, a publicly traded corporation. With Coldstream entering more and more conflict with its neighbors and the talks of possible conflict with Slavikogorosk and the newly formed Raleighton Republic on the horizon, Markus shifted gears and entered Carcosa into the military production market. Securing business deals with the Crown's Army Carcosa began to outfit a majority of the military with uniforms, small arms, artillery, and medical equipment. Eventually war finally happened in 1916 with the armies of Coldstream and Raleighton, reformed into the Republic of Sudica agreeing to invade and split the territory of Slavikogorosk. This war was the best thing to happen to Markus as the demand for military equipment skyrocketed and the need for more factories and more workers allowed Carcosa to industrialize even the most far flung settlements on the Coldstream Frontier. For 2 years the war raged and for 2 years Carcosa bathed in government money. With the end of the war demand for military equipment scaled back drastically so Carcosa shifted focus back to the civilian markets and started producing healthcare products and developing medical treatments for the new Wartime Stress Disorder that primarily affected soldiers returning from the war. Along with all the money gained during the war the King of Coldstream official recognized Carcosa's and Markus's contributions to the war and awarded him with Knighthood and the title of Sir as well as generous renewed contracts with the government and military. 3 years after the war and news reaches the Kingdom of an up and coming Republic called Faru to the far south of Coldstream. With Markus already taking this news into account he receives a letter from the King detailing that the Sudican Nordyne Corporation has begun to make moves on the fledling republic and that he wants Coldstream to get in on the market opportunities there before it the window closes. With this information and the Kings blessing, Markus himself sets sail to Faru to cash in on the possible business.
