Background:
Istevan Gabriel Marin Cavalera was born on [i forgot the calendar so bear with me] April 2, 1758 to Giancarlo Marino, an Areolan mariner, and Isabella Cavalera, a Carpesian leatherworker specializing in horse paraphernalia. His status as a bastard within Carpesian society has meant that he has spent his entire life fighting an uphill battle to get anywhere. His upbringing instilled in him a solid work ethic and a deep belief in the idea that ones worth is not based on birth, but on their work. He would eventually become one of the most well-regarded tradesmen in Vidinia, enough to get him noticed by the Prince Atlas von Chatsburg by the year 1789. His shame about his bastardy is also why he refuses to go by his father's surname, despite all the paperwork.
