When he had free time, his religious parents would often make him go to church, where he would become friends with a priest known for preaching anti-science ideas, or do more work around the house. Murdov's parents would often complain about the apparent neglect of their hometown, cursing the "sleazy Urbisians" for not even bothering to build a railway line to the town.
