Title: Are post launch settlements new in the lore?
Post by: Renarchat on May 29, 2024, 03:15 AM
As in, in the canon, were all the settlements founded by people after the independence war? Because obviously they were all founded by our characters so I'm curious. For example urbis city, its obviously our capital but was it a thing before Chaton Loupius made it???

As far as the canon was concerned, Kroletfaru (spawn) was the imperial capital of Infaru so that's a clue here...

Urbis and a few others might not but others might be. Also it is very likely that Faruns out side of the republic are immigrating because of changing borders during the 1920s. So small towns can easily become much larger. Urbis would easily be an insignificant town in the Slorbo Glormorian Empire until it grew much later because of its location or vibes or something.

Urbis used to be a dock, a police station, and an outhouse before the great war

I think it makes sense to say that before now, none of the settlements in Faru were at all important or big but some (like Dunsk) are actually new settlements

I think there is a balanced way to approach this.

Clearly, there has to have been some cities before the revolution. Nomadic people wouldn't be able to pull off a revolution against a fully functional monarchy without any urban population centers to spread things like enlightenment ideals or mutual disdain for the overlord. However, it can be tricky because obviously ooc there were no cities when the server started.

Thus, I propose that it's up to the founder. If they are on a frontier rp, it's definitely better to say it was founded post-independence. If it was founded before independence, then it's also up to the founder of the town to keep it consistent with the lore without retroactively inserting it into major events.

Basically, it's up to the person who makes the town. If it's not, no problems. If it is, keep it consistent with lore.

I'm with Ashley, I think some cities would have existed before the revolution, but with Faru being a backwater nation controlled by a monarchy, I think there wouldn't have been nearly the populations we see post-revolution. Some towns can be new, some can be old, some can be VERY old, it's just up to the mayor of that town and their vision of the RP.
